For all of those who have read my article in The Tennessean and wanted recipes for Hot Chocolate and Hot Cocoa, here it is! Enjoy!
Hot Chocolate
Yield: 2 servings (because who wants to drink Hot Chocolate alone?!)
2 cups milk
3 to 4 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped or broken into pieces (I prefer bittersweet)
Place the milk in a heavy saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat until just below boiling, about 4 to 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and whisk in the chocolate until melted. Pour into warm mugs and enjoy!
Hot Cocoa
Yield: 4 servings
4-1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons milk, divided
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup sugar
Place 4-1/2 cups of the milk in a medium saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat until just below boiling, around 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix together the cocoa, sugar and the remaining milk to form a paste. When the milk is ready, remove from the heat and stir in the cocoa mixture. Pour into warm mugs and enjoy!
